Power over Ethernet Technology(PoETec) Consortium - http://www.0baseT.org
Akros Silicon is a founding member of the PoETec consortium.
Formed by industry-leading networking components, IC and system
companies; the PoETec Consortium is intended to create an ecosystem
to enhance the growth of the Power over Ethernet marketplace. The
PoETec members will be defining and adopting interface specifications
to enable rapid deployment of next generation IEEE® 802.3 Power
over Ethernet standards based equipment. The PoETec consortium will
make its interface specification available for public download and
will provide implementation rights to all suppliers and system vendors
who join the organization. Everyone has full access to their
completed specifications. The PoETec members are the leading networking
components, IC and system companies currently involved in the PoE
market. Membership includes a royalty-free and non-exclusive
worldwide license for use of all PoETec specifications.
SARTA - http://www.sarta.org
Akros Silicon is a member of the Sacramento Area Regional Technology Alliance (SARTA).
The Sacramento Area Regional Technology Alliance (SARTA) is a tech-focused 501(c)(3) corporation established in 2001 to support entrepreneurial programs, companies and technology investment throughout Butte, El Dorado, Nevada, Placer, Sacramento, Solano, Sutter, Yolo and Yuba counties.
IEEE - http://www.ieee.com
IEEE approved the creation of the IEEE802.3at DTE Power Enhancements Task Force in September 2005. Akros Silicon continues to be a key contributor to this effort.
The IEEE 802.3af standard defines the specifications to deliver power over standard Ethernet cables, details can be found at: http://grouper.ieee.org/groups/802/3/af/index.html
The 802.3at standard should extend the 802.3af power delivery and
port-level resiliency capabilities, which would largely extend the
number of applications that could benefit from Power over Ethernet.
Details can be found at: http://www.ieee802.org/3/at/public/index.html
