Syrus P. Madavi joins Akros Silicon Board of Directors
Former Burr-Brown, JDS Uniphase executive brings more than 20 years of leadership
and mixed-signal integrated circuit experience
to fast-growing networking semiconductor company
Folsom, CA – October 14, 2005 -- Akros Silicon Inc., a developer of highly integrated
and innovative mixed signal and digital processing ICs for converged Ethernet
networking and power appliances, today announced that Syrus P. Madavi has joined
the company’s Board of Directors as an external Director. Mr. Madavi brings Akros
Silicon unmatched executive-level experience in analog, mixed-signal and
communication semiconductor experience and is one of the world’s foremost experts
in mixed-signal semiconductor design and production.
Mr. Madavi has served as President and Chief Operating Officer at JDS Uniphase, the
world’s leading fiber-optic communications company. He also served as President
and Chief Executive Officer of Burr-Brown, the leader in high-performance analog and
mixed-signal ICs. Under his leadership, the valuation of Burr-Brown increased from
$100 million to $7 billion, and the company was acquired by Texas Instruments in
2000. As a Texas Instruments executive, he managed over $1 billion in fiber optic
and wireless communication businesses.

Mr. Madavi has over 20 years of executive-level experience in analog, mixed-signal,
and DSP Integrated circuit semiconductor products. Currently, Mr. Madavi is the
President of SPM Capital, a private investment firm focusing on semiconductor
industry. Previously, he managed a number of high-technology companies including
as Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer of Burr-Brown Corporation, a
provider of high-performance analog and mixed-signal ICs; as Director, President and
Chief Operating Officer of JDS Uniphase: and as SBE Senior Vice President of the
high-performance analog business sector of Texas Instruments.
Previously, Mr. Madavi managed other businesses as President of Raytheon
Semiconductor, and Vice President and General Manager of Honeywell's Signal
Processing Technologies. Other employments include engineering and marketing
positions with General Electric and Analog Devices.
Mr. Madavi holds a Bachelor Degree in Electrical Engineering and a Masters Degree
in Computer Science, both from Stevens Institute of Technology, as well as an MBA
degree in finance from UCLA.
